Fountain Art and Cathinka Huizing
Fountain Art was founded in 2005 by art historian Cathinka Huizing (BA, MA, University of Leiden, Netherlands). She is a specialist on the life and work of the Belgian painter Adrien Jean Le Mayeur de Merprès. Cathinka is fascinated by Abstract Art, focusing specifically on the post War period with international appeal, and with a bias towards female artists. Portraits both painted and photographed are one of her great passions.
Fountain Art advises and assists companies and individuals with their collections. Cathinka is professional and discreet and will work in close co-operation with the client and with regard to his/her aims and wishes. Fountain Art has built a large clientèle of National and international collectors and museums.
Consignment
Fountain Art would be pleased to take your works of art in consignment in order to sell via private sale or to mediate at auction or at fairs.
Exhibitions/Fountain Art Contemporary
Fountain Art regularly holds sales at its charming gallery in the home Cathinka shares with her husband and fellow art historian Jop Ubbens. She exhibits works by national and international artists who worked between the ‘40s and the ‘90s as well as contemporary artists. Huizing has curated shows by contemporary Dutch artists Francoise Stoop, Christine Wouters, Jan Snijder, Mart Visser and Sophie Steengracht.
Portraits
Cathinka Huizing together with Harriet Stoop co-authored two books Portretten van Portrettisten 2010 and Dutch Identity 2016, on painted and on photographed Dutch portraits. Both books also formed the basis of exhibitions which were curated by Cathinka and Harriet at Museum De Fundatie in Zwolle. Their studies about portraits over a number of years have resulted in their in-depth expertise on contemporary Dutch portraits both painted and photographed.
